    Hello

His name isn`t in the two big RFSS books:

    - Vom Plattensee zur Mur (Puntigam)
    - "Im gleichen Schritt und Tritt" (Truppenkameradschaft)

    Sorry.

NARA shows that he has a RuSHA file (Rasse-und-Seidlungs-Hauptamt) but it was not where it should be. All I could find was that he was born 26 November 1922.

Good luck, sorry I couldn't be more helpful,

        Mike

            Hi Karlo,

Correct, National Archives and Records Administration, College Park, MD (NARA II). A RuSHA files doesn't imply employment by Race and Settlement, rather, it means that the man submitted a request to that office, most often a petition for marriage. As such, his RuSHA file, wherever it is, would most likely have an Ahnentafel and paperwork supporting his request. Not nearly as comprehensive as a personnel file, but still full of useful data about rank and posting, not to mention family and educational info.

NARA has an alphabetic index of SS men with annotations as to what type of file they have in the collection, Officer, EM, RuSHA, or some random annotation. All files are on microfilm, so using the index and annotations, you pull a reel of 'film and scan through alphabetically. I pulled the correct reel but his file was not where it should be. The people who originally copied these docs in the late '40s had a limited familiarity with the German alphabet and sometimes this happens. His file could be ten pages away or it could be 10,000 pages away. Impossible to tell. We always check likely spelling errors but no luck.

I hope this makes sense. Mike
