I am looking to find the demise of Robert Litscher. I have heard of a book that helps with this information but I do not have it. Litscher was an Unteroffizier and flew with II./K.G. "Legion Condor" 53 in mid 1943. Thanks in advance for any information.

Kiehl, Heinz. Kampfgeschwader “Legion Condor” 53": Eine Chronik – Berichte, Erlebnisse, Dokumente, 1936-1945. Stuttgart: Motorbuch Verlag, 1983).
On p.334 an Uffz. Robert Litschen, Bordfunker (radio operator) in 5./KG 53, is listed as MIA over Russia on 25.1.1944. At that time his Staffel, which belonged to II. Gruppe/KG 53, had moved to Siauliai (Schaulen) in Lithuania on 16 January 1944 for training in long-range strategic bombing under IV.Fliegerkorps, the Luftwaffe’s intended strategic bombing arm that was then just forming.
That's all it says. By 1955 the German Red Cross had closed his case, so either his remains were found, or he died in Soviet captivity or he had been a PoW and released after the war.
Perhaps one of the German members can run his name through the German graves registration web site to see if he is buried in a military cemetery in Russia.
