    What happen on this day?

Yesterday I was looking for a DKiG winner in "DIE TRAGER DES DEUTSCHEN KREUZES IN GOLD" when I noticed that 95 (yes, Ninety-Five) DKiG were awarded all on the same day and all for the Luftwaffe.
    It was: 17 August 1942.
Does anyone know why? Could it be for a whole squadron for a particular battle?

    Regards,
    AB.

Getting the paperwork done i think you'll find rather than a single event. In any case the date reflects the award date rather than that of any action.

BHS is the man for LW questions so he'd know if it could also be a case of a bunch of people that qualified for the award at the time or if it was a change in the criteria for qualifying.

Thanks Simon. Its not that important just an observation i made while searching for someone. That date appeared on almost every page, twice on some pages.
