    Hi Ian,

the Auktionshaus Meixner (www.meixner.de) offered a lot (no 2506) of 5

photographs in their auction no 73 dealing with the "Seefahrtschule der

Luftwaffe Lobbe/RG" including a picture of the coat of arms of this school.
All 5 photographs are published in the internet.

Among the published catalogue files of the Bundesarchiv is only one file dealing with Luftwaffe Lobbe/Rügen: RW 43/46 Ewert, Ernst: Flugplatz Lobbe/Rügen 1942-45.

    Cheers,

    Gerdan

Seefahrtschule d.Lw. trained boat crews belonging to the Seenotflottillen of the Seenotdienst and was located at Lobbe auf Rügen. The Kommandeur of the Schule was Obstlt. Eugen von Beulwitz.

Each of the 12 to 14 Seenotflottillen had between 8 and 12 small boats that could be sent out to rescue downed air crew and others. These boats ranged in size from approximately 7 meters up to 13 or 14 meters. More often than not, they were harbor craft and pleasure craft that had been captured in various ports during 1940-41.

Now, the Luftwaffe had a much larger “Navy” of Jägerleitschiffe, Katapultschiffe, Schleuderschiffe, Flugsicherungsschiffe, Hilfs-Flugsicherungsschiffe, Flugsicherheitsboote, Flugmeldeschiffe, Nebelträgers, Luftschutzboote, kleine Flugbetriebsboote, Schlepper (Schleppboote), Verkehrsfahrzeuge, Wohnschiffe, Bagger und Baggerzubehör, Seetankschiffe, Binnen-u.Küstentankkähne, Transporter, Luftparkschiffe, Bergungsprähme, and finally, Schulschiffe. Some of these may have been crewed by graduates of the Seefahrtschule d.Lw., but certainly not all of them, especially the larger ones.

        Thank you very much Gentlemen,

I found the images of the Schule Wappen whilst Googling earler but that was really all I found.

A Soldbuch that I have had the holder at this Schule from March to July 1943, interestingly it has a notation that he was Bordverwendungsfähig (Bvf). July he was transferred to 3 Seenotflottile in France.

It bears a signature of the Flottilenführer (of 3!) but again Googling that didn't show too much either...particularly who the Führer was!

BHS1956 do you have any info on 3 Seenotfl. also?

        Regards,
        Ian

From Oct/Nov 1918 the Commander of the German U-Boat "UB 101" was also

a Eugen von Beulwitz, a relative or he himself?

Later after WWII a Eugen von Beulwitz translated a lot of nautical litarature

from English into German language ( all Forester, Horation Hornblower books)

There were two of them in the Luftwaffe: Eugen von and Helmut von. Both held the rank of Oberst by 1942, having been promoted within a month of each other. Helmut von Beulwitz was Kommandeur of Luftpark 4/XI (See) at Kiel-Holtenau. Unfortunately I have no more assignment details for them or anything on their background. I believe they held their respective positions for a long time, perhaps to the end of the war.
