First Research Project

Hello - I am starting my first reserach project on an award document/medal grouping I recently purchased and am looking for a little guidance. I am not certain how to read his unit. It is typed 9./ Greandier - Regiment 555 and 9./555 on the documents. His was a Gefreiter and his name is Aribert Kesselboth. His awards (at least the ones I know of) are EK2, IAB Silver and Wound Badge Balck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Being a NCO it will be hard to get information on him. Only officers are listed in the ranklist. You may try contacting the German Archiv in Aachen, Germany. I do not have then address handy. SO a search and you should find it. When you write to the archive provide all the information you have. Also be prepared to wait. Good luck.

Paul - Thanks for the info. I ran a couple of searches on this forum and found a couple websites to try and research him. I have submitted his info and am prepared for a wait. Any suggestions about how to track his unit? Thanks once again.
