Infanterie-Regiment 43 formed 15.10.35 home based in Insterburg.

Active service during WW2 under 1.Infanterie-Division: 1939 Poland, 1940 Belgium, France (Somme, Loire, Atlantic Coast) and Sep.40-May 41 based in Eastern Prussia. Jun.41-Aug.43 active in Northern Russia (Riga-Narwa, Leningrad, Wolchow and Ladoga). Sep.43-Jul.44 active in Southern Russia and Northern Ukraine (Winniza, Hube, Stanislau, Brody. Aug.44-Jan.45 active in Schlossberg, Feb.45 K******246;nigsberg, Mar.45 Samland, Apr.45 Pillau.
