    feldersatz batallion purpose ?

    Hello, I understand all divisions had their respective Feldersatz battalions that travelled with the division.
    I was just wondering what exactly was the purpose of this Feldersatz Batallion.
    What would their normal day to day functions be ?
    Would they have been located with the divisional train or Tross ?

    Field replacement Btl were just that, to provide replacements and also act as an emergency reserve

      Don******180;t know if you are the same person asking for it on another forum. JUST replacements is not totally correct. One of the main purposes was to provide advanced training to soldiers of the divisions.
      A classical order of battle was (differences depending on the various divisions)
      Company for NCO training, Company for heavy weapons training, company for close combat training, company for specialists training, copany for replacements.
