    Goodmorning Gentlemen,

    I've just acquired a lot of 10 Feldpostletters from the same man to his wife.
    He served as (multiple dates indicate that the same FPnr was used)

    18/09/39
    Uffz:
    25/11/39 FPnr 19401
    29/11/39
    02/12/39
    Feldwebel:
    19/08/40 FPnr 09266 E
    12/04/41
    Obltu
    07/06/42 FPnr 24485 E
    29/06/42

    Could anyone find out more about the units he served in trough the FPnrs?
    Thank you very much for your help in this!
    cheers from Belgium

      That was mighty quick! Thanks a lot Adrian!

      So, if I get this right he was:
      from 14/09/39 - 02/12/39 in 6. Kp IR 313
      from 19/08/40 - 12/04/41 in Stab II u 5. - 8. Kp IR 313

      (there's an E in the FP nr, would that mean 5. Kp?)

      and from 07/06/42 - 03/07/42 probably IR 313 as well but I don't find that period in the list you were so kind to give. What's the reason the FPnrs aren't mentioned for certain time periods?

      Thanks again!

        The dates in brackets means the number was put into to use for that unit name within that time frame. Sometimes a specific date is known for when it was either created or was cancelled, as in the last entry for 19401 for example.

        What you've got there are 3 different numbers, all for the same regiment but for different battalions and companies.

        So you have..

        6./.IR.313
        8./IR.313 (the E refers to the 8 Kp.)
        12./IR.313.

        The way to read the letters is..

        Stab = A
        Komp. =B
        Komp. = C
        Komp. = D
        Komp. = E
        etc..
