? Regarding SS Lieb. officer

Hi everyone

I don't know if anyone can answer this question, so here it goes. Does anyone have any info on SS Obersturmbannfuher Rudolf Sandig (was in Liebstandarte) (won Ritterkreuz 5/5/1943). I am looking for basic information, like date of birth/death, where he was born/died and are there any books that describe him and the actions he participated in? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Bradd,

Numerous works cover details of his life - he was commander of the 2nd SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment LSSAH during the Ardennes. A pre-war Sergeant-Major, he was apparently a very tough soldier - and holder the Knights Cross. I believe he survived the war - and lived quietly in retirement.

See Patrick Agte's book on Peiper or the various volumes of the LAH history - particularly 4/I and 4/II.
