Thanks for the tip off on the book Patrick, i hadn't come across that one before. Found several copies for sale on svab and ordered one straight away

Yes the photos are from "Schijäger am Feind" an excellent book about the subject. The main problem I encountered during summarising my sources are that Fochler Hauke and another personal diary uses "codenames" for small villages. It is very hard to find the real names of the small villages which are described in the various reports. Additionally there is not much in the BAMA.

Have you tried getting a copy of Hauke's Soldbuch...should have the real names and dates listed in it.

I mean all locations mentioned in all my sources. I doubt that his Soldbuch lists all locations where elements of the battalion were in action.

Hello members,

nice pictures! On some of these photos you can see some soldier that have "black" stripes on both arms of his camouflage uniform. What is the function of it? Perhaps it is to make a difference between Mannschaften, Unteroffiziere and Offiziere?

From what i remember they're identification colours and were used to identify friendly troops. Quite important when everyone's wearing white!
