Servus Christoph,
Excellent photos! Did those come from the 1943 book "Schi-j******228;ger am feind! Von Kampf und Kameradschaft eines Schi-Bataillons in der Winterschlacht im Osten 1941/42" by Oberj******228;ger Gustav Fochler-Hauke? I have that book in my collection. When is your book coming out? I would like to get a copy of it.

Hello
Yes the photos are from "Schijäger am Feind" an excellent book about the subject. The main problem I encountered during summarising my sources are that Fochler Hauke and another personal diary uses "codenames" for small villages. It is very hard to find the real names of the small villages which are described in the various reports. Additionally there is not much in the BAMA.

Thanks in advance
best regards
Andreas
