    Kriegs lazarett resource

are there any websites out there with info on the Kriegs lazaretts ?
Lexicon does not seem to have anything on them. Many times I would like to know where a particular war hospital was at a certain time.

    Thanks for any leads.

Going from memory here but i believe Biblio-verlag published a series of volumes on the medical services. More than that i don't know but they've been on my 'to get' list for a while.

The Biblio Verlag volumes noted are:

Fischer, Hubert. Der deutsche Sanitätsdienst 1921-1945. 5 Bände (volumes). Osnabrück: Biblio Verlag, 1982-88.

Volumes 1, 2 and 4 are mainly Heer, while volumes 3 and 5 are mixed but have a lot on the Luftwaffe. These volumes are hard to locate. There are only 3 known holders in the entire United States. Fortunately, I was able to obtain them from the U.S. Army Medical Library in Washington thru interlibrary loan.

For your purposes, you would be quite disappointed in this production. They are mainly an anthology of studies and papers that require an advanced understanding of German ladened with medical terminology and are therefore excruciatingly difficult to get through. There is no appendix identifying and listing Wehrmacht medical units or the Lazaretten and providing their history and wartime movements. However, it is possible to trawl your way through the text and keep a record of the units and hospitals mentioned in passing, and in that way glean at least something from the material. But your list will be incomplete. I would guess that you might be able to identify 60% or 70% of the hospitals, but half or less of the locations.

In sum, I would not waste good money buying these volumes, but you might consider trying to find them in a library and borrowing them thru interlibrary loan.

            it is shame.
The lack of detailed info on Wehrmacht medical facilities is a very big hole for researchers of soldbuch/wehrpass etc.
