I know these are birth certificates but im wondering why would a guy born on the 10th April 1885 (my birthday is 9th April ) want a certificate on 7th February 1945? Would these be required for enlisting in Volksturm battalions (the guy would be 59 at that date) or for promotions etc?

this birth certificate is only valid for the following matters: health insurance, accident insurance, disability insurance old age insurance and surviver's pension.

I think it happened such a thing to that man or his family.
