    appealing to greater knowledge

the following units are all linked to several parts of my collection and im trying to link a time, place and unit to each. i recognise some of the abbreviations but not all so some help would be greatly appreciated.

im really looking to find which divisions or corps etc these particualr units were attached to at certain dates. ive been able to do the same for other items but these are an engima

for example whats kl.Kw.Kol 810, or what does 8./IR 106 stand for? (is its 8th kompanie 106 infantry regiment?)

    FN 18163 letter dated 9th December 1939: 8./IR 106.
    FN 20528/6(cant make it out) letter dated 30th December 1941: IV./Lw.-Sturm-Rgt. 1.
    L38804 written on the envelope: 2./le.Res.Flak-Abt. 874.
    FN 23671 letter dated 25th May 1940: 2./Pi.Btl. 657.
    FN 20624B letter dated 16th September 1942: II./GR 588 (prob. 5.Kp.).
    FN 28584B letter dated 16th September 1943: IV./Feld-Rgt.d.Lw. 1 (prob. 13.Kp.).
    L55967B beside the senders name: II./Lw.-Jäger-Rgt. 42 (prob. 5.Kp.).
    FN 11455 letter dated 20th December 1943: kl.Kw.Kol. 810.
    FN 18163 letter dated 5th May 1941: 3./Res.Flak-Abt. 412.
    FN LN 38804 letter dated 21st April 1941: le.Res.Flak-Bttr. 204.

    thanks in advance

Tessin, Verbande und Truppen for a primary source. Also the 4 vols of Biblio Verlag's "Die Divisionen" series for lower numbered divisions.

what did the germans mean by a reserve unit?
were they ersatz units that then supplied men as replacements to frontline units or were they simple second line troops?
