It was formed at Kitzingen in April 1939 and then moved to Insterburg on 1 Nov 39, Regensburg in Oct 40 and then to Wertheim/Main on 1 May 41. The school had 2 to 4 companies, each with 25-30 crews and 5-6 instructors. The course lasted 12 weeks, with the crews flying 40-50 Ju 87 As during the first 6 weeks and 40-50 Ju 87 Bs during the second 6 weeks. Many of the big "Stuka" names were commanders of the school between its inception and the end of 1942: Eberhard Baier, Paul-Werner Hozzel, Bruno Dilley, Hubertus Hitschhold, Alfons Orthofer, Clemens Graf von Schönborn.
