    Luftwaffe Flak-Regiment 155 (W)

Help! Does anybody know what the tactical markings would look like for a vehicle of Luftwaffe Flak-Reg 155 (W)? The "W" I believe means "werfer" = launch in German.
Its the unit stenciling for a V-1 rocket launch unit of the Luftwaffe that I need to have identified. They were in France and retreated through Belgium into Holland, operating V-1 launch installations. Thanks for your help! Nick

W stood for West, not Werfer, most probably also had O =East Flak Bat?

Answer to question would probably be the generic unitmarking for a LW Flak Reg? Should be same as 155W ( Flak = in diguise - V1 was a very secret unit!)
    Somebody any idea?

Even so secret that is commander LW Oberst Wachtel would sometimes dress up as KM or WH officer when moving around to mislead spies!

Have you carried out a thorough search on Axis History Forum and on Feldgrau? I've been a daily visitor to both sites for over 6 years and they each have several extensive threads on Flak-Rgt. 155 (W). You may find what you are looking for there, although it would surprise me somewhat if the unit used tactical markings because of the secrecy that surrounded it.

You could also try the 5+ books on the Flakartillerie written by Werner Müller. These are all photo album type books that consist mostly of pictures. Here is another that might answer your question:

        NELIBA, Günter. Kriegstagebuch des Flakregiments 155 (W) 1943-1945. Deutsch Duncker & Humblot, 2006. ISBN 3428119258. 106p. 8 pages of illustrations. 24.00 EUR.

          Hi BHS
I read the Kriegestages book on 155W and some other books on V1 & this Flakunit. Found no markings

            How about:

Tessin, Georg. Lwd.
Bd. 15: Kriegsstärkenachweisungen (KStN), taktische Zeichen, Traditionspflege. Bearbeitet auf Grund der Unterlagen des Bundesarchiv/Militärarchiv von Brün Meyer. IV, 360 Seiten. Osnabrück 1988. Lwd.

Band 15 definitely has some tactical markings for Flak units because I remember them when I had an opportunity to thumb through the book some years ago. I can't say that there is one for Flak-Rgt. 155 (W), of course, but the book may be worth a look.

            Cheers,

It maybe nothing, but if that unit was in Holland, and has been in the north of Holland for some time, I believe in the province of Friesland, there has been a report about it on Dutch television. I saw it like 2 years ago and it showed picture's of vehicle's etc. I believe it was on "Omroep Friesland".

                  Flak Rockets

Asked my husband whose the history degree holder and military buff in this house! He said it's possible that they purposely marked it as flak when it was a rocket unit, maybe a deceptive move?
If it deals with rockets I can run to him most of the time.

                    155 W flak

                    Dear all,

Concerning Flak-regiment 155 (W) I can affirm that W stood for Werfer (Mortar) and nothing else. The designation Flak regiment was chosen in conjunction with the bomb's cover namen FZG 76, to mislead the enemy of the purpose of the unit. Flak regiment 155 W developed from the Lehr-und Erprobungskommando Wachtel.
