    pictures needed

I am trying to locate a picture of the Grand Duke Carl Alexander and also a picture of George von Wangenheim. A copy from a book or other sources would be fine, does not have to be an original picture. Just something that I can copy.

Does anyone have a source for either of these? Any other history on these two men would be an added bonus if you have any.

I need these to complete a project for my father for Christmas. (concerning a sword we have been working on)

    Forever grateful for your help.

      Tracy,

Do you mean Karl Alexander Grand Duke of Sachsen-Weimar-Eisenach? Born 1818 and died 1901? If so, I can help.

As for George von Wangenheim, can you provide any additional informtion, such as dates of birth, death, regiments to which he was assigned. Also, is the last name just v. Wangenheim? I akas because there were many officers named Bogun von Wangenheim.

      Can you read German?

This is the information I copied from the following link that is goin on in the sword and dagger section. Take a look if you have time, they have done a wonderful job on the research.

I thought the Arms had been narrowed down to Georg Graf von Wangenheim:

Loosely, v.Roy is saying that in 1840 Georg von Wangenheim was elevated to the Prussian nobility as a Count; at the time, he was the Secretariat and Oberhofmarschall of the Kingdom of Hannover.

The members of this discussion board have done an excellent job in helping me trace the history. I just need some pictures to finish up the project in time to give it to my father for Christmas.

Thanking you in advance for your time. NO I cannot read German! (wish i could)

          Tracy,

I read the other thread- sure seems rather complicated. That aside, I'll ask friend to scan the picture I have of Carl Alexander and then I can send it to you via e-mail. I'll have to wait until Monday to get the scan, but I'll let you know when I have it. At some point you can send me a PM with your e-mail address.

As for Graf v. Wangenheim, I can not provide any additional information or picture.

The only additional information I have is

Georg Christian Ernst Ludwig August Graf von Wangenheim
            17 Aug 1780 in Hanover 21 October 1851

Maybe this will help to locate a picture or an bibliography.

            Thanks again

              Hi again Tracy,
Like I said in my pm, these are the only pics I could find on Google images, but I'm not sure if he is your man , or if indeed he has any relation to the sword...

Still needing anything on von Wangenheim. Hopefully someone will run across something.
