I have nothing on Wolff, other than the fact that he was air crew on a Ju 88 A-4. On the day he was awarded the DKG and the preceding week, his Staffel (3. Staffel of I. Gruppe of KG 3) was based at Shatalovka and was engaged in the operations noted below:

7-23.7.42: flew concentrated attacks in the Orel sector in support of 2d Panzer Army. On 16 Jul, for example, the Gruppe put up 12 armed reconnaissance sorties in front of XXXXVII Panzer Corps that located and attacked 50 motor transport vehicles, of which 7 were claimed destroyed and 11 damaged. A Ju 88A-4 from 2.Staffel was rammed by a Russian plane during these sorties and virtually destroyed when it crash landed on return to Shatalovka.
27.7.42: 2.St. Ju 88A-4 (5K+OK), operating from Kursk, FTR from ops in the Voronezh area, 100%, 4 MIA.
31.7.42: 2 Ju 88A-4s (5K+IH,EK) FTR from ops in the Rzhev area, 100%, 8 MIA.

Presumably, he received the award for distinguishing himself during these operations. His Staffel/Gruppe was very active on the central sector of the Eastern Front from June 1941 to early fall 1944.

The only way I know of to get information on Luftwaffe enlisted personnel is by writing or e-mailing WASt in Berlin and paying a fee. You will find information on this web site about how to do that.
