Gebirgspionier Btl. 8 in Norway, 1942????

Does anyone have any information about a Gebirgspionier Btl. 8 that was in Norway in 1942? Perhaps it's an independent Heer batallion? Thanks in advance.

I've got a sneaking suspiscion this is actually Geb.Pi.Btl.83, of the 3 GD or perhaps 82 of the 2 GD, though it was up on the Litsa front in Finnland\Russia. In mid 1942 the 3 GD was in central Norway training prior to being sent to the Eastern Front.

I've just seen a similar question asked on another forum. There, the poster mentions that this unit is carved on a piece of wood along with an edelweiss and anchor emblem. That definitely indicates the 3 GD.
