    Hello, hoping someone can help. I have an item with the unit marking WiV Finstw. I believe it is a Luft unit. Can anyone ID this unit? Many thanks...Tom.

    "Finstw." is the abbreviation for the Luftwaffe air base at Finsterwalde in Brandenburg. It was a large airfield complex since from before the war and many, many units were located there for various periods of time.

    "WiV" almost certainly is an abbreviation for Wirtschaftsverwalter (base equipment storekeeper or administrator). So the item was purchased with funds from the base equipment account and was on the books of the base storekeeper. The item (whever it is) most likely was found on base property after the war. Since you don't identify the item, we can only speculate.
