    SS MAN in Rome research

    Hi ive got an ss helmet with the name painted in the back SCHURMANN
    This helmet was found near ROME,italy.
    Is there anyway to find out who was he and wot unit did he serve with?

      Ok i think the only SS unit in ROME was the 16 reichsfuhrer SS.
      Any help on how and where to look for a SCHURMANN in the 16 reichsfuhrer SS division???Please help!!
      i feel like lookin for Private Ryan of the 101st airborn....

        i think it going to be almost impossible, i might have been found near Rome, but then again when??? i mean a helmet can travel as much as a person move with his houshold.

        well i can recomennd the WAst in Berlin, they can find out soldiers unit, but then if you give them only the name Schurmann who was in the SS and maybe in the 16th ss div, it will cost you a couple of Euros and 6 month time. but i m not really sure its going to work (not enough information for the Wast)

          Oh i forgot you can find them online, their site is in English to, just go on any surch engine and type WASt Berlin.

            Alex,i know it s almost impossible but the Helmet was found after the war in Rome so that soldier must have been around there with the 16th reichsfuhrer SS as it was the only unit in the NETTUNO FRONT and in italy at that time!
            Thank you for the help about the WASt!i think i will try and see what they say!
