    119 DIV, help needed

Hi all, I would like to know (can't find it ) where the German 119div was located during the invasion of Belgium/Holland/France in may 1940.

    Thanks,
    Regards Sander

Perhaps the reason you can't find anything is because there was no such division.

    What makes you ask?
Are you sure you're not looking for some other unit numbered 119?

Maybe you mean the 119th regiment, they were part of the 25th Infanteriedivision

Come on Sander, we need more than that. What Waffenfarbe? infantry white, pz.gr. green, pionier black????
There were a bunch of different units numbered 119 from all sorts of different branches.

              Now we're talking

Most likely Infanterie Rgt. 119 of the 25 Inf.Div. as Chico guessed, before it was destroyed in June 1944.

So, you'll want to look into the history of the 25 ID
              http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...Gliederung.htm

I can't tell you much about the divisions activities in France and the benelux countries in 1940 except that on June 11th it managed to establish a bridgehead across the river Marne near Chateau-Thierry

However, there is a wartime published book about the divisions exploits in the French campaign which might go really well with your tunic called 'Eine schwäbische Division in Frankreich' published in 1941. Luckily there seems to be a copy available at the link below if you're interested.

It's just as - actually more so - to be to a member of Infanterie-Ersatz-Bataillon 119. This provided replacements to the above unit.
