    info on Luftwaffe Einheit 2704OB

I am looking for info on Oberleutnant Thiem, compagniechef der Einheit 2704OB, based in Holland. Does anybody have any info on this unit? I think it might be a salvage and recovery unit of the Luftwaffe, operating in Holland, as they were involved with the recovery of a Lancaster Bomber out of a Lake in Holland. Can somebody confirm this? Maybe the "B" in "OB" means "Bergung" (salvage) ? On the web I did find the following: "Ausbildungs-Bataillone (OB) der Luftwaffe". So perhaps OB means "training unit"? Does anybody know?
Also does any body know what the abbreviation "FL. UV." means? This is engraved on a Luftwaffe spoon that belonged to a member of this LW unit. Thanks! Nick

Well if it was a Feldpost number it belonged to the following (not Luftwaffe however!):

    27040

    (28.4.1940-14.9.1940) Heeres-Unterkunftsverwaltung Lille,
    (19.7.1941-14.2.1942) Heeres-Unterkunftsverwaltung 107,
    (15.2.1942-30.7.1942) gestrichen, wurde Fp.Nr. 01402 M,
    (10.2.1943-23.8.1943) Stab I u. 1.-3. Batterie Artillerie-Regiment 376,
    (10.11.1944-Kriegsende) 16.1.1945 gestrichen.

It is not a Mob.Nr. so no idea!!!!

As stated above, the Feldpostnummer is not Luftwaffe. However, there was a Luftwaffe Oberleutnant by the name of Fritz Thiem, DOB 31.07.15, promoted to Oblt. on 1.12.41. He belonged to the Flieger branch (as opposed to Flak, Ln., etc.). So this may be the guy. There was only one other active Luftwaffe officer by the name Thiem, but he was already a Hauptmann in early 1940.

Flugzeug-Bergungstrupp 5/VI (Aircraft Salvage Party) was stationed at Bergen/Holland during 1940 to June 1941.

Feindgerät-Untersuchungsstelle 4 (Enemy Equipment Examination Center) was stationed in Holland during 1943-45.

Ausbildungs-Bataillone (OB) der Luftwaffe translates as Luftwaffe Training Battalion (for Officer Candidates). OB is the abbreviation for Offizierbewerber.

"FL. UV" breaks down as Flieger Untervermittlung (Air Force Procurement, i.e., Property of the Air Force).

Now if you can just correct that erroneous Feldpostnummer, things might become a little more clear.
