    SS Polizei Wachbattaillon

    Hi all:
    I just purchased an ' SS Feldpost' letter. On the envelope is an eagle stamp with the following: '1. Kompanie...III./Pol. Wachbatl. X' . Any idea what this refers to. Also, what exactly is a 'Wachbattaillon'? Where did this unit serve?

    A Wachbattaillon essentially carried out guard duties
    Collecting German award documents, other paperwork and photos relating to Norway and Finland.

      The III. Pol. Wach-Btl X, was formed on March 1944 in Bremen-Oberneuland. The X means it was in Wehrkreis X (ten).
