Info needed on SS unit

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has any information on the 16th Pionier Kompanie SS Regt. Deutschland. I have the book Waffen SS Pionier Im Bild but there isnt much on this specific unit. Any info would be helpful.

hi jeb, cant find much, but i bet you already know about heinz macher, untersturmfuhrer and later obersturmfurer, born in 1919 in saxony won the EK 2 nd class on 24.9.41, 1st class on 15.3.42 RK on 3.4.43 for the battle of charkov in russia, and then was awarded the oak leaves on the 19. 8. 44. cant you pick an easier kompanie

Picking another unit would be too easy, besides what fun would this be if it was easy. Is there any other good books on SS Pioniers out there?

Data for the unit, and all other development of the Regiment, is in "German Cross in Gold Holders of the SS," vol. 1. It is the first half of winners from "Das Reich." Book has far more data than just material on the holders alone.
