Any way to link an ID disc incription to a soldier's name nowadays?

    Hi
Maybe this question has been asked galore before in this section and if so I apologize to ask it again,as I do not search this section very often. But I have several marken and have always thought if nowadays could be possible to link a disc's inscription to a name.
Also I have had a lovely Gebirgsjäger rucksack for many years in my possesion and it has the soldier's name written on it. Where could I search something of this veteran FRANZ WEINHAPPL?
    Thank you in advance

2 men with that name are listed on the volksbund database, either could be GJ

Do you mean a dogtag ?

You can ask the WAST (Wehrmachtsauskunftsstelle)

It will cost about 8 Euro.
