7./J.R.31,


does anybody know if it is period and to which unit it belongs

looks like Infanterie Regiment 31 to me -> period why not?

7 Kompanie, II batallion, Infanterie Regiment 31 of the 24 Infanterie Division

and the 62 is the size of the helmet?
so it is warehouse mark for this batalion?

The II in this case doesn't refer to his batallion although the 7 kompanie did belong the the II Btl. There was a good thread about these roman numeral markings on equipment a while back and iirc it was to do with grading of the equipment.
