Research: 90th Regimental Artillery

Hi,
I'm researching the battle fought at Brecourt Manor (Normandy) during D-Day and am trying to find information with a German perspective.
There are many accounts of this battle, but none I am aware of told from veterans of the German side.
I'm trying to confirm the units manning and defending the 105mm gun battery at this site.
The recent book by Dick Winters (Beyond Band of Brothers) mentions that the German unit was the 6th battery of the 90th Regimental Artillery.

If anyone has any info regarding any of this it would be appreciated, especially names of German soldiers who fought there.

The 90 Artillerie Regiment was destroyed in North Africa in 1943.

That is a very good thread, but after reading it ... still seems unresolved as to what units were there for sure.
Like you said though, it wasn't the 90th.

Maybe something more will come of this.

It's ironic but you see it with other famous actions. The activities of one side are known down to the movements of individual soldiers yet by comparison relatively little is known about their opponents.

I guess the only way it could be resolved would be if any German veterans from that action are still alive.

Just bumped into a map that shows all three gun battery positions around Ste Marie du Mont. I've never seen a map listing all three positions before, so I thought I would post it here. It indicates the Brecourt and Holdy batteries as well as another on the road headed towards Vierville.

This text (quoted below) seems to confirm all three positions were near Ste Marie du Mont.

"In the Ste. Marie-du-Mont area was the entire 2d Battalion of the 191st Artillery Regiment which had been committed to coastal defense in the 709th Division sector. The battalion headquarters was in Ste. Marie du Mont and the three batteries, each with four 105-mm. howitzers, were all in the immediate vicinity. Four of the pieces were captured near Holdy by groups of the 1st Battalion, 506th Infantry."

Now if I can find some info about the 2d Battalion of the 191st Artillery Regiment.
