Panzer-Grenadier Regiment 73, 19th Panzer-Division

Hello fellow collectors

I need some help in finding a commanding officer. Could anybody tell me the name of the commanding officer of Panzer-Greandier-Regiment 73 out of the 19. Panzer-Division. The Rank was a Oberstleutnant and the timeframe should be around June 1944 until End of 1944. The frist letter his signature could be a "W". Any help is welcome.

Cheers Jürg

Hello Jürg,

I believe that it was Generalleutnant Walter Denkert, are you sure about the rank being Oberstleutnant ? The preceeding commander was Generalleutnant Hans Källner 1943.

The information I provided is from the 19th Panzer Divsion. Panzer-Grenadier-Regiment 73.

I hope that this helped, their are also many research sites via the internet on the 19th Panzer Division.

Best Regards,
Joe

Pz Gren Rgt 73

Hello Joseph

well I have a signed award doc for the close combat clasp in silver for this guy in the Pz Gren Rgt 73 and the commanding officer as signed with the rank of a Oberstleutnant. Källner was the division commander but I look for the Grendaier Rgt commander. I don't think the signauture says Denkert but I check that. Thanks anyway.

Greeting from Switzerland

PzGrenRgt73 had:

Oberst Menkel
Obstlt. Westermann
Obstlt. Källner
Obstlt. Köhler
Major Volker
Oberst Sörgel
Major Volker
Oberst Niepe
Obstlt. von Mentz
Major Nähring
Major Villmar

as its commanders. So your W is most likely Westermann.

Dear Jürg, no dates in the book. Why not post a scan here, there are a few very good handwriting readers around... Ian, Rick, Bernhard, Erich, etc, etc.

In case when you do not have a scanner, I strongly recommend to get one... These days scanners have become REAL cheap, much less than a Playstation 2 or an EK1... A HUGE price/performance, even the cheapest one WORKS.
