schw. artillerie abt. 816 ?

Hello, I have just secured a document and award group to a man with Schwere Artillerie Abt. 816 throughout the entire war.
Does anyone know where in particular they served on the Russian front ?
I know they were an East unit, but cannot find any info on the net about precise locations or campaigns etc.
They were equipped with 21cm mortars as far as I can see.

Tessin states that it was with the 9 Armee in 1942, at vitebsk in june 1944 and with the 3 Pz.Armee at the end of 44\45.

That's as much as i can tell you i'm afraid, someone with more detailed sources on the armies mentioned may be able to give you more precise details.

Gary, Wow that is some good information. I have been trying to get similiar information on the Heeres-Art.Abt. 810. I know they were with the 16 th Armee in the North of Russia and Courland, using 210mm, but that is about all.Can you maybe help with more detaile in formation.? Jacques
