    GenLt Karl Hansen service question

    Hello Group,

I have a question in regards to a listing in a General Officer's service record. The General's name is Karl Hansen and he retired in 1931 but was called back to service in 1938. There is a period of time between August 1938 to may 1940 where his record states "Placed to the Command of the Army".... or in German "zur verfugung des heeres gestellt"

Does anyone have any idea what "Placed to the Command of the Army" stads for or how I can get details about this period ?

    Many Thanks !
    Mark

    Mark,

I think a better translation for "zur verfugung des Heeres gestellt" would be "placed at the disposal of the army". Which in all likelihood means he was just waiting for the call until he actually received his mobilization appointment in May 1940 as the commandant of the Beverloo training area.

    Regards
    Glenn
