need info on SS.Pz.Abt.11 "Hermann von Salza"

    Hello-

I'm looking for any information (books, pictures/images, on-line articles, etc.) on SS.Pz.Abt.11 "Hermann von Salza." In particular I'm looking for info on the armored vehicles used by this unit, and accounts of their actions around Berlin during the last few weeks of the war. I know they had a handful of Tiger II's but would like to know what else they had on hand during April/May.

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    Rob

Im also very interested in that unit. HvS used Panther aus H I think? The tanks came from another unit, and the tactical numbers you can see on some of the turrets are the numbers from the former unit that used them. So dont take it for granted that the turret numbers ar correct. I have a huge interest in HvS because of the Norwegian tank commanders that served there. One of them is actually still alive (a second one died for about a year ago).

I have some interesting pictures showing the Norwegian tank commanders and a panther photo, but I dont know if I can show them here.

      Cheers

I know I can show this picture, as I have seen it on the web before. This is two Norwegian tank commanders in Herman von Salza. I have an item in my collection from the man standing right on the photo. Several things were sold a few years ago from the same man, including his uniform (not the wrapper). Most, of not all went to Denmark

        Cheers

          Øyvind-

Glad to see there are others interested in the unit!

The Panthers were most likely ausf.G's (cound have been late A's). There weren't any ausf.H Panthers, but there were ausf. H Panzer IV's, and it's more than likely that a few of these found their way into HvS.

          I've sent you a PM

          Talk to you soon,
          Rob
