I need help regarding the following unit : MG - Btl. 10 during the whole time off its existance

Who can tell me more about this unit ?, where was it created, when, where was it to see in action, etc .... etc ....

Can somebody show me a good shot of the tactical sign of this unit ?

Any help is greatly appreciated

* 12.10.1937 Friedensstandort Pirmasens, Wehrkreis XII; 5.2.1940 umgegliedert in eine Krad-MG-, 3
MG-Schützen-Kompanien und 1 schwere Kompanie; 6.5.1943 beim AOK 16 in Nordrußland
umgegliedert in Granatwerfer-Bataillon 10 mit 3 Granatwerfer-Kompanie

1940 Frankreich
1941 Frankreich (Groß Paris), Juli 18. Armee Nordrußland, Leningrad
1942 16. Armee Cholm, Ilmensee

14 Montabaur, als Granatwerfer-Bataillon E 5 Horb, Wehrkreis V

Dear Christoph... sorry, I think that image (star) is based on <i>Schmitz/Thies</i> Vol. 1. The image was withdrawn as incorrect information in Vol. 4.

I have a very nice photo album from this unit but no marking is shown.

Of course from Cholm 1942, need you ask?

It is possible that the owner was NOT in the pocket although the album cover has a printed Cholmschild pasted. He was long there after the siege, at least.

Hey Stijn David,
Nice article on Cholm on this website! Are you planning a book on Cholm as well? It's a nice little battle which certainly deserves a good battle book.
I worked on the Muck translation which you may have seen. I had much bigger plans for that book and did quite a lot more research than shows, but the editors weren't too helpful in going further with it. I still have all my materials so if you have a serious interest in doing a book, please contact me and maybe we can work together.
