    5./Pz Gren Rgt 11

Can anyone confirm that the 5./Pz Gren Rgt 11 was part of the 9th Panzer Div, Army Group B, and that it was involved in operations in Normandy and then stationed in Holland, in Arnheim and Neiderrhein, from about July until November 1944?

    Thanks in advance.

      Hi Jan,

Are you sure? From what I can see the 9th Panzer Division was under Heeresgruppe B in 1944 and was located in France and then Belgium/Holland (http://www.lexikon-der-wehrmacht.de/...sionen/9PD.htm).

I am more interested in whether or not anyone can confirm that this is correct and that Pz Gren Rgt 11 was indeed part of 9th Panzer Division, as well as correct any errors in locations.

          David,

          Pan
zer-Grenadier Regiment 11 was indeed part of the 9th Panzer Division (in fact, it originated as Kavallerie Schutzen Regiment 11 in the 4th Leichten Division, which became the 9th Panzer Division in 1940). I believe it stayed with the 9th Div. throughout, and was merged with the 25th Reserve Panzer-Grenadier Regiment in June '44, but retained its name. (all this info is from Organisationgeschichte Die Deutsche Wehrmacht).
