    • No, Hauptmann Hans Hummel commanded KG Hummel not Kurt Hummel.

    • No, Kampfgruppe Hummel was part of Schwere Panzer Kompanie 'Hummel' itself part of Panzer-Einsatz-Abteilung 500 stationed at the training school in Paderborn, Germany.
KG Hummel detrained at Bocholt with 14 Tigers to complete the 30km journey to Arnhem. Only two Tigers from KG Hummel arrived with the rest suffering mechanical failures. The two Tiger tanks were immediately put into action with KG Brinkmann at 2000hrs on 19 Sept 1944. One Tiger was knocked out by a 6pdr and the other Tigers mopped up resistance which surrendered on 20 Sept 1944. 12 Tigers from KG Hummel had arrived and the surviving initial Tiger now joined KG Knaust to stop XXX Corps from advancing into Arnhem.

    Ciao
