Infanterie Regiment 58
The Infanterie Regiment 58 was established on October 15, 1935. The regimental staff was set up in Herford, in Wehrkreis (Military District) VI. The 1st battalion from the regiment was organized from the training battalion of the 37th Infanterie Regiment 37 in Herford. The 2nd Battalion from the regiment was set up by Levies from the State Police (Landespolizei) and Infantry Regiments 16 and 37 in Minden, also Wehrkreis VI. The III. Battalion from the regiment was set up form the training battalion of the Infanterie Regiment 16 in Bückeburg, also Wehrkreis VI. After its organization, the regiment was placed under the 6. Infanterie Division.
