    Uffz. Juengling 1.Batterie Art.Ers.Abt.23

    Hello

I have received a Parcel today with 100+ Feldpost letters of a young couple.

He was Uffz./Wachtmeister of the 1.Batterie Le.Art.Ers.Abt.23 his name is Wilhelm Jüngling

    his wife lived in Danzig.

i would really like to know more about this Wilhelm Jungling

where was he based at the Front etc.

I just found out he was at Krim but that is all I know.

This is my first buy of a Feldpost lot and I find it really interesting. I think I could easely write a book about this War Romance because some letters have really private and intim content.
It is also a really sad Romance because they new born child died after 10 weeks when he was at the Front. His wife wrote to the Oberkommando to get him back home, because he was the only male in his family(Sippe) and so he was the only one with a "healthy bloodline" that's what she explained in this Letter.
I just have started to read the letters and im still working in sort them chronological.

I thought I would try the Forum first before I try to contact the Bundesarchiv.

Every Help of you is much apreciated
    Thank you
    Andreas

For information on Wehrmacht soldiers you normally need a date and place of birth.....there are 91 Jüngling listed in the phone directory of which none appear to be yours.......many appear to be Companies.....so you might be lucky without dob to get information if it is not a common name!

However with that said there are 156 listed as being killed or missing in action....8 of which are called Wilhelm......3 are from WWI and 3 were junior in rank so that leaves 2 possibilities!!! One held the rank of Feldwebel and the other Leutnant.

When is the last letter dated? Do they indicate he survived the war or stopped say in 1944?

        Regards,
        Ian

Many Many Thanks for your help Ian

He was born 18.12.1914 in Fredersdorf and the last letters he wrote to his wife are from 1944.

Is it possible to find out where he was based at the Front?

I can only read the letters written from his wife, because her handwriting is in normal german. The letters from him are written in Sütterlin, what i can not read.

Your help is much much apreciated

          Thank you
          Andreas

1.Batterie Le.Art.Ers.Abt.23 was his replacement unit, it was stationed in Potsdam, Wehrkreis III from 1939. March 1945 it transferred to Jüterbog.

With this unit he would not have been at the front, however in 1945 the front would have come to him!!

None of those listed as KiA or MiA have the same DoB as your man, so he could have survived the war....however there are still many missing that are not listed yet, as their remains are still and perhaps always will, remain unknown!

              Try this link:

              http://www.com-de.pair.com/wast/

Fill in the info you have and wait for 6-9 months for a reply.......

Also do any of the letters have Feldpost numbers? These would identify his front line unit!

              Regards,
              Ian
