Kavallerie Regiment 5

Does anyone know who was in charge of Kavallerie Regiment 5 in Oct.'44?
I know Oberst Karl Prinz zu Salm-Horstmar was kommandeur at least for part of '44 but i'm looking to confirm if the regiment had a temporary commander in Oct.

Here's the signature of the guy i'm tracking down. My current theory is that this is Major i. G. (later Oberstleutnant) Heinz Sauer, who from what i can gather was in Kav.Rgt.5 and who was also Ia of the 4 Kav.Brig. May to Sept '44.
