Searching for Knight's Cross Winner Info.

Hello. I am a new member to this Forum. A number of year's ago, I acquired the uniform and decorations of the Knight's Cross winner Heinrich Kruse. Unfortunately, I know little about Kruse's background, units served in, etc. I remember at the time that someone was writing a book outlining the careers, in alphabetical order, of all of the RK winners. Does anyone know if that book was completed? I would like to research this soldier's military background but understand that the information from the archives in Germany may not be complete.

    Heinrich Kruse:

Hptm. Fhr. Gren. Rgt. Gruppe 311

    Award date 26/3/44

There is no record of him having received the DKiG

ps: the best way for Americans to research information on German officers is to get their microfiche personnel files from the US National Archives. The archives made copies of many German army and SS personnel files after the war and still maintain them. A friend got me the files on a Heer RKT group that I have. I belive you have to go there in person to get the info though.

Hello Andy and thank you for the information. The uniform came with this officer's RK cased, his EK2 converted field RK, and EK1, wound badge in black, infantry assault badge in silver, and SA sports badge in gold. There was also his ribbon bar for EK2, West Wall and Eastern Campaign. The ciphers on the boards indicate #77 too so I am hoping to get his records to cross reference and compare the uniform to the records. Thanks again...

          Hello Andy-
I didn't realize that I could not post photos here- I haven't "subscribed." I am going to see what I have to do in order to become a member. In any case, if you have an email that will hold the images I can forward some photos to you. Let me know.....
