    Lw.Felddivision FPN Help

Just got another Luftwaffen-Felddivision photo album and need some help with the FPN conatined therein. Based on some notes in the album, I suspect this is most likely a unit of the 1. Lw.Felddivision. The number is:

    L 40421 D

The time period would be from roughly March through September 1943. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It appears they were old fashioned butchers:

      40421
      (1.10.1940-27.2.1941) Schlachterei-Zug 122
      (28.2.1941-29.7.1941) Schlachterei-Kompanie 122
      (23.4.1944-24.11.1944) 7.10.1944 gestrichen (cancelled)
Looking for any original items related to Danish W-SS volunteers

        Jason,
Are you sure the FP Nr. is correct?

L would denote a Luftwaffe unit and D sub structure....the unit shown by prorege1 is not Luftwaffe nor does it breakdown using the suffix D!!!

Ian and prorege1 thank you for your replies. That is rather strange. The number is visible in a couple of photos of a sign hanging outside a small bunker. The images are unfortunately a bit washed out, so it is somewhat hard to make out, but I am fairly certain it is L 40421 D. At a minimum, the "L" and "D" are fairly clear. I suppose the "1" might be a "7", but I really think I got it right the first time. The strange thing is there are enough other points of identification in the album (it is fairly well annotated) that clearly identify it to the 1. Lw.Felddivision. The album is certainly not from a Heer unit, especially not a butcher platoon/company from the 122. Infanterie-Division. The two divisions were engaged in roughly the same vicinity, at times attached to the 16. Armee together, for most of 1943. After Demjansk, is it possible that the FPN for the butcher company may have been picked up by a unit in the 1. Lw.Felddivision before it was eventually stricken in late 1944? That is the best hypothesis that I have. Any thoughts? Thanks again for your help!

Here is a close up from the clearest image of the sign in the album. Not surprisingly, the word on top appears to be Schreibstube.

Here is the full photo...clearly not butchers from the Heer.

            Thanks!
