    He was a WWI veteran and most probable with the " Fliegertruppen "

    Got any other clues for me? Those horrid Prussians did not list first names, and there were TWO Reeps-es. There is no printed (yet--that I know about) Luftwaffe (S) Seniority List.

    I doubt it was the WW1 flyer-- he was a Leutnant 18.10.96, Oberleutnant 22.3.07, left Inf Rgt 58 after what was obviously a poor career, and served in WW1 as a Hauptmann "aD" (what would have been "zV" in WW2) in Flieger Abteilung 54. That's all I find on him.

    The other one was Leutnant 14.2.06, Oberleutnant 8.10.14, Hauptmann 18.12.15, and left the army right after the war still in that rank, though he was on the General Staff of Oberkommando I. Armee. This one wasn't in the army as a regular or (E)/ (S) officer. Just from age, I'd say he was more likely to be your Oberstleutnant-- about 55 in 1942, where the WW1 flyer would have been...about 68!

      Ludwig Reeps

      Hello Rick,

      Thanks for the search => it is the WWI flyer IMHO, I base this upon the fact I have a picture in arecent book from Oberstlt. Reeps where he is wearing what seems to be flying badge from WWI besides his ek 1 ( WWI ) and his KVK 1 e class during a chat whit General Student.

      Another ( more clear ) picture shows him from the lft side and hear it is clear that he wears what seems a Bulgarian pilots badge and a Austrian flying badge ?????? => I will try to scan this picture when needed, It must be the flyer as the other Reeps that you mention was not in air services during WWI !!!!!!!

      He looks quite old and his nickname was " Papa Reeps "

      Cordial greetings and thaks already

        Hello Stijn.
        Mehner lists Obstlt. Ludwig Reeps as commander of Fliegerschule (S) 1 which was first located at Neuhausen/Ostpreussen then Langendiebach from Sep.1941 to Jan. 1942. Apparently it was discontinued in 1942.

          Ludwig Reeps

          Hello,

          Thanks Bernhard for the info, thats correct => he was actual the commander of the fliegerschule der LW ( S ) 1 , this was later renamed into " Erganzungsgruppe ( S ) 1 " and as you stated moved to Langendiebach ( here is where I made a little mistake => the HQ from this unit was indeed in Langendiebach and not at Zellhausen, Zellhausen was a satellite airfield also used by the Erganzungsgruppe ( S ) 1 untill 1944 and amongst the commanders off Zellhausen we find the following names :

          * Oberleutnant Erich Bromund ( nickname : Ebrolin )
          * Hauptmann Held

          Any other info regarding Ludwig Reeps is highly appreciated
