    Help to ID a Waffenrock

    Hello All,

I just purchased a beautiful Obstlt. Administrative Waffenrock from Bill Shea last week and I have this baby in my hands now. I need some help trying to ID the owner of this tunic. The tunic is named but the ink is faint in some spots but I did manage to make out the last name as AUGAR...I think.

In Heereseinteilung 1939 reference there is an Oberst Augar assigned to the Wehrbezirkskommando, Konigsberg I. Can anyone tell me if this is my man? If so, can someone provide me with a first name and history of the man?

I took pictures of the name tag but the pics are too big to post...I have to wait until tomorrow to post them. I would appreciate anyone help in this matter.

    Respectfully

    Mark

Attached are a couple of pics of the name tag I'm trying to ID. I'm not very good at reading German script.

        Hello Mark,
Nice piece! It looks like the first name is Paul. I can't see enough of the last name to tell, but it looks like it ends with er, rather than ar. Also, it might be a zer.I might be able to tell if I see it in person--let me know if you're going to be in north/east county.

          Hi Erich,

Thanks for the reply. Perhaps we can meet up and you can take a gander at it. Feel free to send me an email sdsolt@sbcglobal.net and let me know.

          Thanks

          Mark

            Hi Mark,
I agree with Erich, It looks like "Paul Auzer"... although not a pure 'Sutterlin' hand, the writing does exhibit some very strong 'Sutterlin' influences (see below for the basic construction of the individual letters).

BTW. nice waffenrock ...I too have a tunic by this tailor.
I noticed on eBay ,a couple of months ago, that someone was selling what appeared (from the photos) to be DDR greatcoats with a 'Christian Schwarze' Tailor's label sewn onto them.
