I have a researched man, these are the info can you explain them to me?
He was in Italy in Jen 1944:

- 2 Aufklarungs Abteilung 114 : what division??

- dog tag: 854 St. G. E. B. 494: what does it mean?

- Oberreier: whcih kind of rank is it?

His rank was Obereiter; this was the special rank given to men in cavalry units and was the equivilent to a normal Oberschutze. (Aufk. units often used these style ranks)

OK..thanks..now I have al the info, and I want to share with you the story..

I have an M42SD helmet bought from Bill Shea...It comes from a 3rd inf division vet..
the helmt is named to Dreyszas and it has blood stains..you can see it here.

Now I know that Dreyszas belonged to the 114 jaeger division...some units of it came in Italy on the 28th of Jen '44...and they were attached to the Fallschrim Panzer Corps HG...they entered in contact with the first units of the us 3rd Inf division and rangers on the 30th of Jen soouth of Velletri near Cisterna...the unit suffered about 90 casualties that were registered on the 31st of Jen..and Dreysza thata belonged to a Reconnaissance Battalion was one of these poor men..

Radfahrabteilung 114

Formed February 1943 in Serbia; Fully set up as Aufklärungs-Abteilung 114 from 1.4.1943 through Wehrkreis I and III with 3, from 2.5.1944 with 4 Companies.

Under: 114. Jägerdivision

Dog tag: Personal number 854. Stab or Stamm Kompanie, Grenadier Ersatz Bataillon 494.
