    Translate this RK winner letter!

    Hi Guys,

    I've got this typed letter signed by Heer RK winner Volkhard Eitner. I'd like to ask one of our German speaking members to fill me in as to it's content!

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

    The gist of it is that he says he just returned from holidays, and is sending two photos to Mr. Smith, one from 1943 at Kuban and the other from the Invasion Front 1944. He says that they were facing units of the US army at this time, and how he was wounded for the sixth and seventh times. He also ends the letter with the wish that such a war never happen again.

      RK letter

      I’m not that good in English but it goes a little something like this:
      ================================================== =
      Dr. Med. Volkhard Eitner German adres etc.
      Doctor for troath, nose, ears.

      Dear Mister Smith,

      I thank you very much for you friendly interest. I found your letter after coming back from a journey, thats why the late reaction.
      Onde picture was shot in may 1943 at the Kuban bridgehead, the other in june ’44 at the Normandy front, in the Lessay-St.Mere –Eglise area. I was a major than, and commanding the 1058 Luftlande (Airlanding) Regiment of the 91 Luftlande (Airlanding) Division.
      In opposit of us were an American Airborne Division and, with others, the 90th American Infantry Division.
      Shortly after I was wounded for the 6th, later at Heilbronn for the 7th time. From the 25 Lt.’s and Olt.’s of our Stammregiment 8...(the regiment they al got their training, or started their militairy careers) based in Wiesbaden, 23 died in combat. We all should hope and whish that such a war will never happen again.

      With friendly greathings,

      ================================================== =======
