    Can you find more about Walter Christian Muller's life like his military career and the name of his parents? He was leader of Panzerjager Abt. 389 and won the Knight's Cross in the middle of 1944. Thank you.

    Christian Walter Müller.

    Walter Müller was born on November 22, 1914 in Weinsheim / Bad Kreuznach and joined the Reichswehr as a volunteer in 1934. In the Wehrmacht, he became a member of the Panzerjäger (anti-tank) troop and initially took part in the Polish campaign.

    As a lieutenant, he received the Iron Cross 1st Class during the western campaign after his Pak platoon knocked down 12 French tanks. With the beginning of the Russian campaign, Müller repeatedly stands out in numerous defensive battles due to personal bravery, pronounced leadership and prudence. After the end of the defense battles south of Lake Ladoga, he was named in the Ehrenblatt des Heeres as a lieutenant and leader of the 1st Company Panzerjäger-Abteilung 24 on March 8, 1942. After his 5th wound, a year later, he received the gold wounded badge as a Hauptmann.

    In 1944 he became commander of the Panzerjägerabteilung 389 and received the Knight's Cross as a Major on July 17, 1944, for overcoming the heavy fighting at Polotsk. It was presented to him after his 6th wound in the hospital in Rinteln. Due to repeated bravery, he received the German Cross in Gold in September 1944. After being wounded again fell in American captivity in April 1945, from which he was released in September.
    From 1959 to 1971 he was head of department for tank destroyers in the Army Office of the Bundeswehr and finally retired in March 1971.

    Walter Christian Müller died on September 22, 2003 in Cologne.
