            I know it's not a new question... But what was the reason for double (or even tripple) strike of maker's mark? The first strike is very faint and shifted, and can be found on almost all Luft badges by Juncker...

                      Gorgeous Glider in really excellent shape. Very lightly worn and looks great, very hard badge to find in such nice condition.


                      Double stamp is very easy to explain, when the worker hits the punch hard, sometime it bounces after making the deep maker mark, and it hits the surface again very lightly, which leaves the very light mark.

                              Hi Tom,

                              As far as I understand it was made with similar tool so I don't think it's because of "bouncing". The base metal is quite viscous for that imo... Maybe the faint strike was the first one? For example to press the badge in some kind of soft surface to avoid damage to the obverse due to the full force strike?
