    Juncker hinge query

Hi guys , I don’t often stray onto this side of the forum but would welcome any comments on this feature . First pic is hinge detail of a Juncker pilot badge with that characteristic or strange ‘ scar ‘ or flaw . This seems to be seen from time to time on Junckers . Second pic seems to be the same type of defect . Any ideas? Could the second one be attributed to the same maker or is it just a common feature across the makers ?
    Thanks Ferg

    Ferg,

It might be part of the tooling process.

Imo its when the hinge pin is loose the manufacture press the hinge barrel to squeeze it in place.

Thanks for that info, the barrel does not show any distortion which is what you would expect if the barrel had been crimped. It is more of a scar or tear mark as if it was attached to something and has been ripped away.
