Night Fighter Clasp in Gold, Tombak

    Hello

Before i am going to sell this clasp i want to check it here.
It’s a golden Night Fighter clasp.
    The clasp is Tombak.
    Unfortunately the catch is repaired.

    Thanks for every help!

    Regards

Very nice Junker clasp, shame about the pin that will have a substantial effect on its sale price.

Additionally you don't really know when this clasp was painted, 1943 or 2013 and the substantial premium's these 'night fighter' clasps attract make it tempting for some to reach for a jar of humbrol unfortunately.

Probably wartime paint from what I do know about clasps. But not a factory paint job from Juncker. This is a repurposed clasp that an NJG guy might have repurposed himself. And I say probably based on what I know. With R.K. you have a sure bet with this it's a clasp that in my opinion deserves no extra value with the black paint. But it IS a gold fighter and that's something!

Night fighters all wore the normal fighter clasp at the begining, so the paint job on early clasps was most probably done by the " unit painter " ..
Like said, hard to discover real paint from post war, too many dealers discovered this easy money, too many touched the wreath with a brush ..in the dark..when nobody was watching .. result, a sh i t story and a couple of hundred $$ more to pay .. and noone to tell you if it's real or not..
The good, the bad and the ruined.
Like Brian says, to be sure, to live your dream and to sleep well, RK is the deal, ..unfortunately ..

What the guys say contains a lot of truth. If you have the courage, you can gently check the paint with acetone. Old paint will remain

Will not work if paint is modern enamel only effective if acrylic. OP seems to have abandoned thread in anycase

                    Hi Robin,

As the others have said, the paint looks OK but impossible to know for sure when it was done. At a minimum, all we can say is that the gloss and texture of it matches wartime examples, and I would just look to make sure there is no black paint on the arrow.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
