I do hope it is albeit the finish of the eagle gives me a weird feeling.

Complete new silver if quite off statement for this badge, as GWLs have the most stunning silvering when they are mint. This one i'd consider quite worn out if not even heavily cleaned at some point, cause not even a glimpse of shinning i'd expect

thats the first thing who catch my eyes. Niothing to do with ioriginal dark chocolate finish. Another fake GWL with the same caracteristics on finish and thebsame metal texture.

I remember that one Seb and thought it was fake. The one that started this thread may be from that family of fakes but I think I can make out a bit of the fingerprint on the back. How about some measurements Bucky?

To my eyes the detailing on the feathers and claws of Bucky's badge is a lot better than the fake that Seb just posted the pictures of.

In my opinion the badge that started this thread is an original.
On the new pictures Bucky posted it seems a lot better than the previous ones.
It's so important to take good pictures in natural daylight.
Bad lightning can make a badge look very different and weird. I had my suspicion too but was not really sure.
GWL pilot badges are an easy victim for fakers. The detail is quite simple to reproduce. For instance, the feathers are just carved lines. It has not a complicated design that you can see on the early birds and the wreath is not too difficult either.
It is normal that people are sceptical and suspicious because lately we have seen a new generation of improved fakes of the GWL pilot. Like the one Seb posted, that's a fake for sure! Just take a look at the soft detail on the bird.
On the bird that started this thread i can't see anything wrong and i think the first pictures mislead people. It does not have the typical circular pattern on the backside of the bird but there are more examples that don't have these. Too me it would be a surprise if the badge is NS, i think it's just tombak but also on the new pics it's hard to see. Can you spot tombak on the wreath Bucky?

That does look better but please include new photols of the reverse.

Would still like to see the reverse as this is the key to determining originality.

I'm with Rich, we need some GOOD photos of the reverse. Until then I still consider it questionable.
