    Air gunner

Hello! I think, it's original. But I don't like these claws. I searched on website. I don't found similar. Thanks!

      Hi Oleg,

Yes, it appears original but the bolts have been removed on this example. It was not made like this, but whether the bolts were removed by Juncker, by someone pre-45 or by someone post-45 would be the question. My guess would be one of the latter two choices.

Like Mike says, bolts have been removed at some unknown time. Still nothing wrong with the badge though. I have a Deumer thats had the same thing done to it.
The German dealers refer to these as "officially removed bolts" (amtlich entfernte blitzbundeln) I think I spelt that right.

This type of badge was destined for guys that were just Air Gunners and did´nt have a Radio Operators license.

Thanks, Mike and Skip! Below I have similar question - I think that it's original, but I doubt in claws.

              Hi again Oleg,

Those pics are not the best - WAY too much flash! At least the form of the maker mark appears correct.

Assuming the badge is genuine and regarding your concern over the talons, I wouldn't be too worried. The profile of this area on earlier (ie tombak or earlier construction) Junckers was typically hand finished and will therefore vary from badge to badge.

Photo of the reverse is pretty awful, however the on the obverse view, the claws are not as mine!

                Regards,

Here are images of a Tombak Juncker Aerial Gunner's badge which was manufactured without the lightning bolts.
