Hi Guys, friend of mine has emailed me these pictures. He's selling the 2 badges, pilot and observer. What do you think?? Real?? About what value??

He believes both badges are real, but that the cases might be/might not. So what would the badges be worth, provided they're legitimate??

Dear Rick,

Your predilection should be exactly vice versa. IMO the BSW pilot´s badge is good and the Observer is a fake and a bad one at that. Looking at the pin and catch tells the whole story.

The wingtips on the BSW pilot´s badge are fine for that maker, hinge is correct as well, so is the catch and the rivets. Eagle is fine from what I can see on the blurry pics. That´s one of the nicer BSWs and I would think it should be around 350-400 USD if it comes from a friend.

In my humble opinion, obviously concurring with Frank's, I'd say that the BSW pilot badge looks fine, but that the observer badge is a fake, judging from the hinge, catch and rivets only. As regards the cases, I have no clue at all - but they do look too new and shiny... Values? Have a look at the dealers' sites (e.g., Detlev, Weitze, Jamie etc.) to get an idea.

The Jmme is fake and I think so are the cases.

I concur with the guys... the pilot is good and the observer is bad. The cases are hard to evaluate and would require better photos especially of the hinge, release button and catch, lettering, surface material, etc.

In the pics you've provided the cases do look very shiny and therefore not a good sign.

Take a look on my web-site (see URL below), it contains many pictures of pilot's badges and there is a BSW one there as well (note it has the little supporting join between the swaz and claw - I believe the earliest one's didn't have this, so don't worry that yours doesn't have it).

I agree with everyone else.
Stogie, when you get this BSW in your paws, take a look at the clasp, it should be shaped like a questionmark, not a standard "C" catch.
